Welcome

Welcome to the blog! I'll bet you're as thrilled to be here as I am to have you here! Barnyard Studios is a faux-studio name, meant to disguise the fact that for the most part, it's really just one guy working on these projects. The clever moniker came about because I've lived on a farm most of my life. Indeed, I CAN turn a phrase. The purpose of this blog is to gratify my own ego by posting updates on my projects, and pretending that people actually care. Oh, by the by, in all cases, click on images to make them larger.

Paradox

No images or videos to accompany this post, just pure, raw, information. Paradox, a mockumentary film of mine that's been in production for a while, has finally taken a huge step forward. All main characters have been cast, and we got together on Wednesday for a little script read-through, as well as some shot mock-ups. Went spectacularly well, they all did great. Pre-production on the film will continue through the summer, and shooting will begin in winter 2008.

Kill the Batman...

Well, myself and many Bat-fans like me were enthralled with the release of a new trailer for The Dark Knight. This magnificent piece of advertising fueled my urge to create, and since my scanner is currently...on hiatus, as it were, I took a different route. I decided to take my favorite trailer moment and, uh...A Scanner Darkly it up nice. I simple traced around the image, duplicated the layer, painted and blurred some shadows, put a filter on the backdrop (all in Photoshop, of course), and voila! The Joker! Showing you his card! For those interested, the trailer for The Dark Knight can be found here: http://www.whysoserious.com/happytrails/trailer.htm

In Blackest Night...

This "piece," if it can be called such, is the result of too much Green Lantern and Samurai Jack. I wanted to try out the no-black-outline technique seen in Samurai Jack, so I drew Green Lantern to test it on. True. Story. It's silver age Hal Jordan Green Lantern, for those who were desiring verification. Many thanks to Gil Kane and Genndy Tartakovsky.

P.S. - This may or may not lead to something, who can tell anymore?

Pearlicious!

Well, work progresses on the Batman project. A small amount of storyboarding has reached completion, and animation is commencing on the scenes depicted. I'd like to try and keep the previews at a minimum for this, but I was so pleased with how this shot came out, and I wanted to flesh out the fledgling blog a little more, so here it is. Fans of the Batman mythology will no doubt pick up on the implications surrounding the image. If you find you are unable to infer anything from the image, well, pick up a comic book, people! Or at least watch Batman Begins.

The Batman STRIKES!!!

I've been a fan of Batman since youth, and the fervor surrounding The Dark Knight has driven me into a Caped Crusader frenzy. A fellow fan, BubbaGump of SuperHeroHype forum and http://bubbagump8.deviantart.com/ fame, and I have embarked on a little Bat-project. He shall draw the storyboards and character models, and I shall make them boogie-oogie-oogie. 'Till they just can't boogie no more. I recently completed a brief animation test to test the compatibility of our different styles, which will serve as a little preview to the project. Enjoy.
